Have You Been Catfished?

Online dating has become immensely popular in the U.S. In fact, already one in every four couples meets online. However, the online dating world is prone to scams, such as the one referred to as “catfishing,” after the 2010 documentary Catfish that follows a young man’s encounter with a woman he met online – who turns out to be completely different. Thus, “catfishing” means fabricating an online identity with the intent of tricking somebody into a relationship

The Shocking Cost of Printer Ink Exposed

If you have ever shopped for an ink cartridge replacement, you know just how expensive they can be. Buy why are these little plastic containers so expensive? You might be surprised to learn that per gallon, printer ink costs more than gasoline and fine wine. All of that cost is especially outrageous when you consider the average ink cartridge only contains a ketchup packet worth of ink! In addition to the impact of ink cartridges on your finances, they also have a troubling impact on the environment. With over 800 million cartridges sold annually in the US alone, landfills are being overrun with empties. Luckily, there are a number of ink and toner options available to help reduce both cost and environmental impact.

Turning Trash into Treasure

Earth Day is coming up in just ten days on Monday, April 22nd, 2013. 2013 will mark the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day, a global effort through which individuals and communities from around the world come together to help find solutions for man-made issues such as climate change. As a “green” junk hauling company that makes every effort to recycle as high a percentage as possible of the trash and unwanted items we pick-up, we decided that it would be a fun exercise to create an infographic in honor of Earth Day 2013. In the following infographic, we’ve highlighted 8 different examples of ways that “trash” can be turned into “treasure” by exercising just a bit of creativity. For example, you can turn a few dozen old chopsticks into a very cool and modern looking fruit basket. Old bicycle chains can transform into an ultra-unique bottle opener that any hipster would be clamoring for. Or take the bottom half of an old suitcase and line in with some bedding to allow your canine companion to start snoozing in style! We hope you enjoy this infographic and come away half as inspired as we did throughout the course of researching and designing it.

NFL Draft 101

With the NFL Draft right around the corner, we thought it’d be a great idea to get some statistics and facts on the draft so we created an infographic. We started by examining the top ten NFL draft picks by position from 2002-2011. From there we took a closer look at the pro bowl starters from 2008-2013 and noticed that most starters come from the top 50 picks of the draft, but there were a surprising amount of undrafted starters that appeared in the Pro Bowl. Most notably James Harrison, who came into the league as an undrafted free agent, and became a five time pro bowler as well earning two super bowl rings! We then took a look at the NFL combine, which tests each athlete on their physical and mental abilities and determined who ranked the best in the history of the combine. These athletes are incredibly gifted and their numbers prove it from the data we looked at. Last but not least we took a look at some interesting NFL draft facts that stood out and presented it at the bottom of the infographic.

5 REASONS WHY 2013 IS THE YEAR FOR BRANDS TO GO SOLOMO

This month, digital agency We Love celebrate the evolving digital world with an infographic-inspired site, showing brands why 2013 is the year to embrace digital and go SoLoMo.

SoLoMo, developed as a result of the growing popularity of smartphones, is short for Social-Local-Mobile. It can benefit brands by not only increasing business, but also transforming user behaviour and enhancing levels of brand engagement. The SoLoMo approach blends together real-time locations with social media to give consumers the most relevant experience for where they are and what they are trying to achieve at a specific time.

Creative Director, Blair Jarvis commented: “Consumers’ needs and demands are becoming more and more sophisticated. With mobile user needs much more immediate, they want to be able to get information on demand, wherever they are. This is where SoLoMo comes into play.”

Jarvis, continues: “It’s never been more important to be social, think local and invest in mobile, and if it isn’t already, a SoLoMo strategy should be at the heart of your digital vision for 2013 and onwards.”

See how SoLoMo can help you target your audience with greater precision: http://solomo.welovedigital.com/

The Race for the First Driverless Ca

Self-driven cars have been in development for several years now. The research was originally conducted by Universities and Technology Institutions, but now we have seen a strong interest from car manufacturers and even Google!

Some of the car brands that are looking into bringing these autonomous cars to the mainstream market include Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Nissan, Toyota and many others are soon to join in.

One of the main stumbling blocks is the liability scenario in the event of an accident. Who is responsible? Who is to blame? Is the driver liable or will it be the car manufacturer? A very important question that needs to be addressed by the Governments and Car Manufactures.

On a positive note, the state of Nevada is the first state to legalize self-driven vehicles on their roads, which makes this a pioneering state in the process of bringing this technology to the public.

The following infographic produced by Car Loan 4U illustrates the key players in the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. It used a graphical speed-o-metre to compare the technology and chance of commercialization levels.

America's Addiction to Oil

Every day on the planet Earth, we burn through over 53 million barrels of fuel. At 42 gallons per barrel, that’s a LOT of fuel - almost 2.25 billion gallons. 18 million barrels of that - a full third - are consumed by the United States.

We enjoy exceptionally low gas prices. Think your trips to the pump are expensive? Think again. Our gas average is a full $2.72 lower than the international average. Meanwhile, in some countries like Norway and Turkey, drivers need to shell out nearly $10 per gallon.

Our low cost, easy access to fuel is stalling innovation. European cars average at about 40 MPG while ours only average out at 20 MPG. Europe has been increasing efficiency, and focuses their efforts on improving public transit, while we continue to throw big money at our highway system.

As the days until the end of fuel tick by, there’s one question on everyone’s minds - how long can this really last?

Why Deduplication is Becoming a Must Have in Enterprise Storage Environments [Infographic]

The inspiration behind this exercise was the growing adoption of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) in enterprise business environments. Virtual server environments tend to have a very high level of redundancy, so deduplication can lead to large reductions in the amount of storage capacity required. Analyst George Crump of StorageSwitzerland.com wrote on December 3rd, 2012, “Over the next year there will be a sharp increase in the number of storage systems that offer deduplication thanks to more intelligent implementation methods that don’t impact performance nor put data at risk.” Between some ROI analysis provided by Mr. Crump, some information from the McKinsey Quarterly, and additional data points provided by Tegile, we were able to generate the following infographic analysis about why deduplication is becoming a must have in enterprise storage environments. We hope you enjoy!
