Innovation is said to be a key driver of economic growth and prosperity. Vaccinations and sanitation throughout the world have saved millions of lives in the last century. Inventions and technology have fostered increases in industry and productivity that have changed the face of our cities and infrastructures. But what makes a one country more favorable than another?
The Global Innovation Index by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) aims to answer that very question in their 417 page analysis found here: 2013 GII Index. Using an inclusive, horizontal vision of innovation applicable to both emerging and developed countries, this index ranks various countries based upon dozens of factors that impact the environment for innovation.

Did you know that signage is the least expensive, but most effective form of advertising? Accounting for as many as 50% of some business’s customers, an investment into compelling and visually appealing signage is an investment that will pay a return many times over. At Blue Pond Signs, we often like to use the analogy of your sign being the “calling card for your business” that can reflect your identity as a company. With all this in mind, we wanted to take the time to put together the following infographic, based upon information available at Signs.org and Bang Advertising.
There is some great statistical data in this infographic that analyzes the impact of new or upgraded signage on a variety of businesses. For example, a University of San Diego study found that on average, a business grossing $500k a year in revenue, would see an increase of roughly $23,000 in revenue by installing one additional on-premise sign!

This infographic explores the changes that children go through in this time in their life, as well as showing how preschool plays an important role in those developments. Should the importance of early childhood education come across successfully, then the statistics on preschool enrollment in the U.S. should strike a nerve. Just what are we doing on our mobile phones? How often do we check them and what are we looking at?
Mobile usage is skyrocketing and in 2014 total mobile usage is projected to exceed desktop computer usage.
We treat our mobile devices like a cowboy with his six-shooter: he never wants it too far from him, even sitting on the nightstand while he’s in bed just in case some outlaws come crashing through the door. Our phones are constantly tethered to us and we’re checking them all the time—even to look at work email while we’re on vacation. We check them constantly.
So you’ve spent time and money increasing the amount of customers coming to your website, but how do you get them to spend more when they arrive. CWCS took a look at a few tricks you can use to boost your sales.
Having a range of payment methods would make 42% of visitors more likely to buy more. Expanding their options means nobody is excluded and customers can choose their preferred card or method. Better payment security is also one of the biggest factors, with 53% saying it was important. Better protection of personal information is another important security factor. With so many sites sharing information with thirds parties and identity theft so common, nearly half of shoppers said this would influence their purchasing choices.
Accurate delivery dates is a big deal, if you can’t get the goods to the customer on time or can’t customise a delivery date then this 43% are less likely to buy with you. Having customised offers is also a big incentive so sales, deals and personal recommendations are a great tactic.

What does the modern workplace look like? Is it row upon row of cubicles and modular workstations? Or is it perhaps a more open-flow office plan with shared workspace environments that encourage greater collaboration? In reality the answer is neither as technology has dramatically improved the efficiency of remote employees over the last decade, giving rise to the concept of a distributed workforce.
What is the Distributed Workforce? The distributed workforce is a legion of external/remote employees who can convert coffee shops, park benches, an airport, a hotel room, or anywhere with a WiFi connection into their office space.
In the infographic below, we look at the role that video plays in ensuring efficiency and productivity throughout the distributed workforce. Video meetups can build trust and engagement by fostering regular communication and a platform for establishing timelines and responsibilities amongst individuals working as part of a group from different locations. Video collaboration tools also allow for content sharing as well as a virtual co-working environment. And finally, by helping make a distributed workforce a more feasible option for enterprise organizations, video and the distributed workforce can allow companies to achieve significant cost savings through lower office overhead costs, less travel, and greater efficiency.

The Cloud. The movement of all things tech-related to the cloud has become an ever-present topic of discussion in the last few years. While “the overarching concept of delivering computing resources through a global network is rooted in the sixties” (source), the cloud computing concept has experienced explosive growth in the last decade as companies like Salesforce.com have made enterprise application delivery via a website a reality. Here at Aryaka, we specialize in helping solve the challenge of unreliable performance of public internet experienced by end users as a result of enterprise applications and services moving to the cloud.
As such, we took a special interest in a recent survey done by PC Connection that analyzed how far along in the process of adopting cloud technology a sampling of 500 different organizations were as of 2013. The results are quite interesting, revealing that while only about 1 in 5 organizations have already moved some of their applications to the cloud, 50% of organizations labeled themselves as “on the way” to moving applications to the cloud as they are in various stages of evaluating vendors, making plans, etc. Not surprising, a chief motivation for migration to the cloud is disaster recovery, while ensuring proper security is listed as the most significant challenge. We hope you find our infographic to be interesting, and please feel free to submit your comments or questions!
