Get the Hottest Halloween Costumes of 2014

Halloween will be upon us in little over a month, so now is the perfect time to start getting your costume and home decorations ready for the spookiest night of the year.

The origins of Halloween are thought to go back to the days of the Celts in Ireland who would leave out a treat for passing spirits and fairies. The treats were believed to keep the tricksy spirits happy and benevolent towards the mortals residing within the house. Historians have also argued Halloween dates back to the time of the Romans, when followers of the goddess Pomona would feast on fruit, nuts and seeds in her honour.

Whichever story you subscribe to, everyone the world over agrees that Halloween can be one of the most fun nights the whole family can enjoy. Hit the shops and look out for some fun decorations to get your house in the spirit. Decorate you front yard with some spook-tacular embellishments like headstones, witch effigies, skeletons and cobwebs to get the party started.

Paired with some glow-in-the-dark pavers leading to your front door, trick-or-treaters will not be able to resist knocking on your door for some delicious sweets. If you want to have some family fun on Halloween, the kids do not have to be the only ones who get to dress up.

Why not make a theme for Halloween and get the whole family involved? Dress your little boy in a Luke Skywalker outfit, your little girl as Princess Leia and Dad as Darth Vader. Complete the theme with the pet dog as Yoda and the whole family is ready for a Halloween adventure.

If you want a more traditional approach to costumes for Halloween, why not dress up as a ghost, vampire or witch? There are plenty of outfits available for you to purchase for your four legged friends from discount or craft stores. If you are feeling ecreative there is also plenty of time to make something for yourself and your pet to wear.

Whatever you decide to do this Halloween, remember to have fun and stay safe. If trick-or-treating is not on the agenda then a Halloween party with some good friends can be just as much fun.
