Skin Cancer in the UK

Today I have a worrying infographic from the skin care website called Beauty Flash all about skin cancer in the United Kingdom.

There are two main types of skin cancer called melanoma and non-melanoma and they are both major health concerns with non-melanoma being the most common type. Since the 1970s the number of people being diagnosed with melanoma in the UK has increased every year and now approximately 1 in 50 people are affected.

Older people are more likely are far more likely to get Melanoma than younger people - the older you get the more chance there is of you getting the disease. Both men and women can be affected but they tend to get it in different parts of the body, men most commonly get it on the trunk or torso whereas women most often get it on their legs.

This well designed infographic provides lots of information about skin cancer including the number of Malignant Melanoma incidents for each year, the number of Melanoma incidents in the various age brackets, the distribution of cases for men and women, survival rates and some advice about checking for skin cancer.
