So Much Stuff!

Over the last half century, Americans began a collection: stuff. We collect everything. Our dresser drawers overflow, our closets bulge, and our garages hold cardboard boxes rather than family sedans. How did this happen? How do we put the brakes on it? Those questions are tough to answer. What are our homes filled with? How is all of this stuff affecting us? Those questions we can answer! Check out our new infographic below for an overflowing screen of knowledge. And when you’re done, you can share it, like it, or just move on. Much easier than cleaning out that second fridge!

The Zombie Computer

As the pace of business grows, so too does the sophistication of digital crime. The interconnected world is not without its challenges, and among them, the ability for coordinated criminals to take down business networks and digital infrastructure poses particular concern. As a business, your up-time is your lifeblood, and stemming the flow of intrusion is vital to keeping your staff and your customers working at full capacity.

The Power of Visual Communication

Visual communication is described as the conveyance of information and ideas in forms that can be read or looked upon. According to studies, people tend to remember about 20 percent of what they read, and only ten percent of what they hear. In comparison, the same studies have shown that people tend to remember an impressive 80 percent of what they see and do.

In the following infographic, we’re making a case for the power of visual communication. We’ll start by providing a few more statistics on the effectiveness of the visual. Next, we’ll provide a quick history of the existence of visuals. Finally, we’ll outline the introduction and evolution of a number of visual styles. Take a look:

Real Cost of Vehicle Ownership

Because sales in the first quarter of 2014 have been so poor, many manufacturers have been trying to dispose of unsold stock by subsidizing substantial discounts for new models. In turn, this has been pushing down secondhand values. So before you even begin to assess which vehicle to buy, shop around to see which manufacturers are offering the best deals. Only when you have the best sticker prices can you then move on to the next important factor: how much is the car insurance going to cost? The insurers all play from the same hymn sheets. The lowest rates are reserved for those who buy the models with the best safety performance in the crash tests run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. You can shave thousands off the cost of owning your pride and joy by picking the safest model.

Now add in the cost of fuel and you begin to get the true picture. Although this often means paying a slightly higher sticker price, the more miles to the gallon your vehicle does, the more you save. Even if you are a senior who only does a few miles around the area at off-peak times, you can still save significant amounts over the time you own the vehicle.

If you work your way through the infographic, you will identify all the factors to take into account. Plus there are lists of the vehicles it’s most expensive and the cheapest to own. Of course all this requires a little effort on your part but, if only to prove the economists wrong, you should invest a little brain power to buy the vehicle with the lowest costs of ownership.
